Richard Avedon, Gavin Watson, Stephen Shore, Sally Mann, Richard Kern, Diane Arbus, Gary Winogrand, David Bailey, Dorothy Lange, William Egglestone, David LaChappelle, Robert Frank.

This is not an exhaustive list , and is fairly heavily planted in American photography, with a brief look at film, but as I (DarkDaze) am a photographer not a lecturer I find it easier to talk via work I am interested in or has been a big influence. This course will be also led by feedback from students- if you have an area of interest we will try to cover it.

We will also be looking at the above and how it can help you understand your own photography, its only an 8 week course, but should leave you knowledgeable about your camera but also full of projects and ideas for shoots, from Street to Studio. So if you are interested please just drop us a mail at

Lomokev fills Martin Parr’s shoes!!!

World famous and internationally renowned superstar photographer Martin Parr, was due to talk to a sell out crowd organised by Photoworks last night. However, this had to be postponed at the last minute because unfortunately Martin has the flu.

Talk went round the internet of the cancellation and it seemed that there were quite a few people interested in photography at a loose end for the night.

So, seeing as we here at Garage Studios never like to see people at a loose end. We threw the idea into the pot of local Internet celebrity and Garage Studios course tutor lomokev, putting together an impromptu talk and Q&A session at our studios.

Well with only 4 hours from initial idea, to being in front of a packed Studio of 30 people. Who were sat on every type of chair that we could find at the studio. lomokev managed to pull of a fantastic presentation of how he got from casual snapper to published author and internet celebrity.

The night was so successful that we are thinking of making it a regular event. So watch this space.

So a big thank you must go to lomokev who ‘rocked the house’ and also to everyone involved as well as everyone who came along, asked a question, brought a chair and just supported us a Garage Studios.
