A new book from Matt Martin

June 1, 2010

As you know at Garage we like to bump the work of others, good karma may be a hippy concept but its important in this business not to go around hating or be hated, so when I saw Matts post this morning that he has published a new book of work I knew I wanted to get it on the Blog.

If you don’t know Matt, he has recently moved to Brighton, which is building a powerhouse of young Photographers. I first came across his work via We Are Lucky which is a great blog. Then Matt came down the studio to visit, helped out on the Brighton Fashion Week shoot, and also assisted Natasha on her amazing naked corset shot (which we will show you soon). Before coming to Brighton he spent some time in the USA, and this is what the book documents, in his own words….

Hello Misfits was mostly shot over 3 months traverling the good old USA. I went from NYC to Baltimore to Atlanta to Miami.
I met great people, and most of them i would call misfits. Alex wein (king misfit) was the guy who made all the traverling possible by driving us up and down the country, it was a crazy trip and was over christmas and new year.We watched painted trains in the yard in atlanta on christmas eve, skated KONA skatepark on boxing day and partyed in swimming pools on new years. The book also has a few photos of friends from Exeter. Before i left for the states a group of my friends squated a school, so we had about a month of skating and partying and drinking in this huge school for the summer. This book is dedicated to all the graffiti kids, skate kids, drunk kids, dagger kids, tattooed kids and rooftop climbing kids. Hello misfits!
