Garage Studios First Anniversary…..

August 28, 2009

Garage Studios is over a year old, and being so busy this month it completely passed us by unnoticed. I think (DD) we will try and get a post of some of our favorite shoots, shots and students work up really soon, though it will probably be next week now. But huge thanks to everyone that has attended one of our courses, or our exhibitions, book launches, guest talks and also a massive thanks to anyone that has assisted on our shoots, tirelessly painting, building and breaking for us. Its been a hell of a year to get this far, but we have some great things planned for the next 12 months, with some brand news course, gear demonstrations and lots of shoots and campaigns.

If you have a great image shot at Garage Studios, or a particular favorite you have seen on flickr somewhere that is by a student or one of us, then let us know at and we will try and get a 1 year anniversary best of online soon. (We will ask your permission first of course).

Many thanks, Kev, Matt and of course Tash….(and from our hardworking ever expanding crew).

Oh and also if we shot you at GangUp, hold tight the images will be up soon, then just give us yr file name and we can wing a lo-res copy over…. but its a lot of shots to go through…

This is one of my favourite images ever taken of my beautiful face. By Adam, it was wet, miserable, ruddy cold and was the first day of the Creative Photography course.

All you guys have been incredibly kind and encouraging to me over this last year, it seems a long time since we were sat outside those yellow shutters watching Matt drill things into walls talking about logos and grand designs.

I am sure there are many more people who have a great admiration and respect for what you have brought to the Brighton community, whether it’s Kevin’s painful attention to detail or driving need to force feed me Rankin, Adam’s relentless polaroid snapping and collection of ‘novelty’ cameras (he’ll love that), Matt’s ability to point at something and turn it into a 2 story house in under day or Tash’s calming influence which seems to manage to diffuse any stresses on a shoot.

I look forward to another year, and bigger brighter things.

congrats peeps! can’t believe a year has passed since I was in Brighton being shown what was still pretty much a Garage by Adam. You guys have rocked it! the stuff I’ve seen posted on your site and flickr stream is a testament to the hard work and talent you peeps have forced into every waking day. I raise a toast to you and look forward to popping in and saying hello at some point (I must be due another trip further across the coast soon - I’ll get my passport renewed)

I remember just over a year ago, not long after Tobias was born, I bumped into you 3 looking dapper on your way to see the bank first thing in the morning. You were talking about getting the studio going, as you walked off I thought, there go 3 guys with some big balls.

You must be proud of what has happened, I’m chuffed to have played a small part in it by building this website and I look forward to seeing what happens over the next year.

    One billion big ups.
