Garage Studios First Anniversary…..

Garage Studios is over a year old, and being so busy this month it completely passed us by unnoticed. I think (DD) we will try and get a post of some of our favorite shoots, shots and students work up really soon, though it will probably be next week now. But huge thanks to everyone that has attended one of our courses, or our exhibitions, book launches, guest talks and also a massive thanks to anyone that has assisted on our shoots, tirelessly painting, building and breaking for us. Its been a hell of a year to get this far, but we have some great things planned for the next 12 months, with some brand news course, gear demonstrations and lots of shoots and campaigns.

If you have a great image shot at Garage Studios, or a particular favorite you have seen on flickr somewhere that is by a student or one of us, then let us know at info@garage-studios.co.uk and we will try and get a 1 year anniversary best of online soon. (We will ask your permission first of course).

Many thanks, Adam, Kev, Matt and of course Tash….(and from our hardworking ever expanding crew).

Oh and also if adam shot you at GangUp, hold tight the images will be up soon, then just give us yr file name and we can wing a lo-res copy over…. but its a lot of shots to go through…

GangUp magazine Launch

Garage Studios attended the launch of new Brighton fashion magazine GangUp last night, and what a brilliant night it was. If you were in attendance you hopefully had your photo taken by adam who was running a photobooth session on the middle floor. He took somewhere in the region of 250 portraits and we will post some of them on the blog soon when the Gang have had a chance to look through them all.

GS have sponsored some studio time and equipment for this first issue and are really pleased to be involved with this unique mag.

If you want to buy a copy of the mag then please go here as the GangUp website is having some hosting issues, which should be resolved tonight, in the meantime you can view some of the work and ideas on their tumblr though please be aware that some of it may not be work safe. Garage Studios isnt responsible for any content of the sites or magazine.

The magazine itself is 104 pages, bound in a beautiful matt laminate cover, no adverts, no unnecessary text just great fashion photography, we really hope you like it.

Below are a few images from last night, and our portrait shots will follow, please click the image to go to the photographers flickr…..

Mr & Mrs The James Kendall Wedding Photography

We’ve just done the wedding photography of a good friend, client and Brighton Source magazine editor, The James Kenall & Rosie Purser.

It was a lovely day and it was obvious that they had put so much effort into the whole wedding. It all took place in a local village hall in the middle of Brighton.

I love how every wedding that we do is different from all the others, they are really an expression of each individual couple. This one was no exception with a theme of church fete / street party. There was the most bunting we have every seen, lots of home made food and such a relaxed and fun atmosphere; they even had Midfield General DJ ing.

If you would like to speak to us about your wedding photography we’re more than happy to have a chat about what we can do for you, so just click here

See below for a selection of the images that we took:

Peter Andre & Heat Magazine in tha house

There was a big buzz in the studio the other week when pop sensation Peter Andre came to Garage Studios to be photographed by celebrity photographer Dan Kennedy for an exclusive article in Heat Magazine.

We had paparazzi, screaming kids and autograph hunters all lining up outside the studio, it was quite the media circus.

You can see the front cover of the mag here:

GangUp Magazine launch

Garage Studios is pleased to announce the launch of bespoke fashion photography GangUp Magazine. Founded by one of our in-house photographers, DarkDaze. The magazine will be launched on Monday 24th August, at the Old Music Library, Church St Brighton.

Garage Studios has provided sponsorship for the magazine in areas such as Studio hire, and camera/lighting gear hire- we are pleased to say its our ringflash shooting that stripper, and our Bronica shooting beautiful editorial on the South Downs, and in fact we sponsored equipment in all but one of the shoots. Be aware if you follow any of the links that not all the images are SFW, but we didnt have any control over editorial content- letting those 6 involved work out exactly what they need. We are very excited to be helping out this talented bunch of Brightons creatives and assisting them in getting the look or equipment they needed for their shoots.

We will be in attendance at the launch and if you want to chat about any of your shoot needs then please let us know. We pride ourselves on being a very versatile, adaptable studio, we can provide something for all budgets and levels of experience, working with, and understanding the needs of everyone from students to photographers from national magazines.

For the creation of GangUp, DD invited GS regular Louie Banks, and Brightons hardest working fashion/club/gig photographer Sam Hiscox onto the team, and also our long-term styling partners and art directors Emma Sandham-King and Stevi Jelbart of Ophelia Fancy, and one of the GS regular models Sally Reynolds as producer and creative. This magazine is all about local talent, and building strong creative teams, but we will leave it to the GangUp crew to have the last word.

“Gang Up is a magazine dedicated to the best photography and fashion, from a group of reckless individuals located in a little seaside town. A fresh approach devoted to elegance, style, bruises and rowdy behaviour, which brings you the finest work from Brightons most inspiring talents.GangUp is a story of ambition and grandiose plans.”

To find out more please go to GangUp maybe not safe for work tho…. and we hope to see you at the launch.

We also have more exciting news about a fashion campaign we shot recently but will add a second post on that soon.
